Autumn/ Winter 2015
Hair and Makeup Trends
To ensure my character was current I had a look for inspiration on makeup ideas from the Autumn/Winter 2015 fashion catwalks. I was aware of the fashion trends for Spring/Summer 2016 but they weren't as fitting for the witch character and didn't relate to my research into witchcraft.
For the makeup trends of Autumn Winter 2015 I noticed that eyes were the main focus for a lot of the designers. I looked at a select range of designers makeup for the catwalk based on a mixture of my favourites and ones that had a witch feel to them.

Roberto Cavalli
I love the placement of eyeliner on the models for the Roberto Cavalli collection. The black koal eyeliner placed under the bottom lashes and on the water line creates an effortless look. The coal smudged effect was interprerated in different ways and used on the models for various designers collections. Each of the designers makeup looks were very individual to their collection which is something I intend to create for my witch character.

Versace

Dries Van Noten

Fendi

Diane Von Furstenberg

Burberry Prorsum

Giles
Pat McGrath created this makeup look for Versace. The heavely smudged eyeliner with thickly applied mascara brings all focus to the eyes. I really like this inperfected rebel look which is recently being interpritated in many different ways throughout catwalks, red carpets and magazines.
The makeup for Dries Van Noten was created by Peter Phillips. A dark charcoal colour has been applied to the inner corner of the models eye and brushed across the crease of the eye in what appears to be one sweep creating this unusual effect on the eyes. This makeup draws attention to the inner corner of the eye and with the use of no macara and no dark colours on the lids enhances the eyes.
The eyes were defientely the main focus with this makeup created by Peter Phillips. This makeup includes lots of mascara built up and what appears to be eye liner drawn on in a feathered fashion. This imprecise eye makeup creates a rebellious cool girl slightly careless makeup which is really on trend and could be a inturpritated into a really intresting makeup for a witch character.
This dark smokey eye was created by Pat McGrath. Dark eyeshaddow has been blended all over the eyelid and has been smudged through the crease and under the eye, with eyeliner applied on the water line to create this diffused coal look. I really like this deep dark look on the eyes, due to all the other makeup being very netural it makes the eyes appear very enchanting and the main focus of this look.
This effortless look created by Wendy Rowe for Burberry has a complete matt finish with dark tones of khaki and brown on the eyes. I like the dark smudged effect under the eyes as it creates a slight haunting look. Experimenting with different dark tones and placement of eyeshaddow is something I am going to consider when designing.
One of the most common fashions with makeup for Autumn/Winter was making the eyes the main focus but there were a few designers who made lips the main focus. One of my favourite looks which had a bold lip and strong gothic feel was created by Lucia Pieroni. The pale matt skin and eyes left without mascara with black lips looks very dramatic.
